Policing 2020: local news reporting during a year of racial justice protests

This study analyzed media coverage of policing in three US newspapers in 2020. The authors found a heavy (though not often exclusive) use of police sources and criminalizing/delegitimizing portrayals of protestors. They also found that newspapers were increasingly likely to include information about police misconduct as the year progressed.
